City of Moorpark approves our plan to build a future-proof fiber-optic network

Moorpark's city council voted 4 to 1 to approve our plan to build fiber-optic infrastructure across the city, the decision that made everything since possible. The non-exclusive right-of-way agreement covers roughly 11,000 homes and businesses.

Why a council vote matters to a resident

Nobody builds a fiber network without the city's agreement. Approval is what allows us into the public right-of-way: to cut along easements, place cabinets and cross streets.

The vote sets the tone for what follows: permitting, traffic control, restoration standards. The relationship with the city isn't a formality. It's most of the timeline.

"Our mission is to bring fast, affordable, and dependable internet to the communities we serve," Aspire Fiber CEO Stephen Weatherford said at the time. The build uses microtrenching, narrow cuts along the curb and gutter, to keep disruption low.

What has happened since

Moorpark is now the most-built part of our network. Most areas are complete and live, including many HOA and multi-dwelling properties. An install here is usually a short drop from a cabinet already in the ground.

Our office is in Moorpark too, on Discovery Court, and the crews you see in the street are local crews who answer to us.
